Chemical Plant Operator jobs in Idaho Falls, ID
Chemical Plant Operator controls equipment and systems that process chemical substances and materials into products. Operates equipment and monitors the production process to ensure efficient and safe output. Being a Chemical Plant Operator follows standard operating procedures and performs in process quality checks to identify and resolve issues during processing. Troubleshoots problems with equipment, respond to system notifications and makes required adjustments as needed. Additionally, Chemical Plant Operator enters required production data and information into logs. May unload or move materials. Follows all procedures for safe material handling and required safety gear. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Chemical Plant Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining inventory for product mixing
- Aid in loading trucks and totes of product
- Operate telehandler and forklifts to mix or load products
- Unload and process all incoming inventory, including unloading/loading tankers, flatbeds, and rail cars
- Mixing and blending of liquid fertilizers
- Maintain outside appearances of physical plant to ensure public image is positive
- Complete fertilizer blend sheets
- Aid in installing new tanks, mixers, lines, etc at the plant.
- Aid in maintenance and construction of plant projects, equipment, and buildings during off-season
- Additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by management
Experience and Skills Needed:
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to prioritize operations in light of multiple priorities and conflicting demands
- Team player
- Able to lift 50 lbs repetitively
