Chemical Plant Operator controls equipment and systems that process chemical substances and materials into products. Operates equipment and monitors the production process to ensure efficient and safe output. Being a Chemical Plant Operator follows standard operating procedures and performs in process quality checks to identify and resolve issues during processing. Troubleshoots problems with equipment, respond to system notifications and makes required adjustments as needed. Additionally, Chemical Plant Operator enters required production data and information into logs. May unload or move materials. Follows all procedures for safe material handling and required safety gear. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Chemical Plant Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Work Schedule and Other Information
This position will be working at our Army Base Treatment Plant located in Norfolk, VA from selection until October or November 2024. At that time, the position will move to the permanent location and work at our Nansemond Treatment Plant located in Suffolk, VA. In addition, this position will require the ability to obtain a TWIC card to allow access to the Port of Virginia.
