Chemical Plant Operator controls equipment and systems that process chemical substances and materials into products. Operates equipment and monitors the production process to ensure efficient and safe output. Being a Chemical Plant Operator follows standard operating procedures and performs in process quality checks to identify and resolve issues during processing. Troubleshoots problems with equipment, respond to system notifications and makes required adjustments as needed. Additionally, Chemical Plant Operator enters required production data and information into logs. May unload or move materials. Follows all procedures for safe material handling and required safety gear. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Chemical Plant Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. This position monitors our computer system to control production by making necessary adjustments to tank levels, pumps, agitators, valves and other process equipment, Operators also loads tank trucks with finished product and collects and carries out chemical analysis on product samples. This position also assists Maintenance with projects when needed as needed.
Candidates should have experience working in an industrial environment and be mechanically inclined. Chemical manufacturing experience is a bonus, but not required. Candidates should have basic math skills, and have understanding of units, including the use of weight, volume, specific gravity, pressure and concentration. Candidates should be able to work 12 hour shifts, 4 days a week on a rotating days/nights schedule. This position averages 44 hours a week.
