Operates equipment and monitors the production process to ensure efficient and safe output. Being a Chemical Plant Operator follows standard operating procedures and performs in process quality checks to identify and resolve issues during processing. Troubleshoots problems with equipment, respond to system notifications and makes required adjustments as needed. Additionally, Chemical Plant Operator enters required production data and information into logs. May unload or move materials. Follows all procedures for safe material handling and required safety gear. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Chemical Plant Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate and maintain washers, wastewater treatment, Coolant System, Glegg demineralizing water system, cooling towers, and bulk storage to full operating potential and other duties as required. Assist with environmental tasks as needed. Promote process improvement through root cause analysis and completing actions to prevent reoccurrence. Provides coaching, troubleshooting, and training to other CPO’s and Team Members. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be a Production Tech with a minimum of three years industrial experience (outside experience will be considered) Working knowledge of Basic Mechanics and Power Transmission Systems-gearboxes and drives Superior safety, performance, and attendance records Technical knowledge of chemicals and Wastewater Treatment Operations preferred. Troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and ability to plan the day’s assignments. Ability to work effectively with chemical suppliers. Working knowledge of the SAP and SSI parts lookup preferred. Working knowledge of air operated, centrifugal, chemical metering and positive displacement Pumps and related equipment. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to interact with others in a positive and effective manner. Experience performing basic chemical lab procedures, i.e. pH measurements acid and base titrations preferred. Piping and plumbing knowledge. Knowledge of environmental reporting procedures and awareness of wastewater permit requirements preferred. Knowledge of Pesticide application requirements and willingness to be certified. Experience working in Confined Spaces preferred. Be able to label and move Hazardous Waste drums and inspect area as required.
