Chemical Plant Operator controls equipment and systems that process chemical substances and materials into products. Operates equipment and monitors the production process to ensure efficient and safe output. Being a Chemical Plant Operator follows standard operating procedures and performs in process quality checks to identify and resolve issues during processing. Troubleshoots problems with equipment, respond to system notifications and makes required adjustments as needed. Additionally, Chemical Plant Operator enters required production data and information into logs. May unload or move materials. Follows all procedures for safe material handling and required safety gear. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Chemical Plant Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     Position Summary The position will be responsible for operating primarily a Scraper but also a variety of off-road trucks and equipment utilized in mining and will also be responsible for helping with plant maintenance.

    This includes repair of aggregate plant processing equipment, fabrication, and installation of guarding and operation of the aggregate processing plant.

    Equipment Operator Responsibilities

    • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor, clean equipment.
    • Perform daily inspection of vehicle
    • Observe visual and auditory signals during vehicle operation.

    Plant Maintenance Responsibilities

    • Conducts MSHA pre-shift safety inspections of equipment and work areas.
    • Maximizes performance of stationary equipment by performing repairs and ensuring preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basis.
    • Ensures Preventative Maintenance services, lubrications services are completed according to Maintenance Module.
    • Completes required paperwork to maintain equipment and to run the plant according to Martin Marietta Materials standards.
    • Duties may include checking, repairing, or replacing pumps.
    • Familiar with maintenance on crushing and screening equipment

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience
    • Minimum 1-year previous experience in a role with similar responsibilities
    • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
    • Occasional weekend work required
    • Welding experience preferred.
