General Description: 

Coordinate and conduct daily activities in a post-harvest fruit physiology laboratory. Ensure general laboratory cleanliness and functionality and promote a safe working environment. Accurately summarize and effectively communicate and discuss research results with direct supervisor as well as senior management. 

Principal Responsibilities: 

• Conduct research including the collection of information and samples, such as fruit, plants, and plant material.
• Implement experimental protocols and trials provided by Supervisor. 
• Document and catalog fruit disorders received from the field.
• Accurately summarize and effectively communicate research results.
• Keep detailed logs of all work-related activities.
• Use computers and computer-interfaced equipment. 
• Clean, maintain and prepare supplies and work areas.
• Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory and field equipment.
• Measure or weigh compounds and solutions for use in testing.
• Isolate, identify and prepare samples.
• Conduct standardized biochemical tests and laboratory analyses to evaluate the quantity or quality of fruit samples.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION GUIDELINES:

Required

• Minimum education - high school diploma 
• Able & willing to commit to learning this specialized position.
• Proficient use of standard office computer programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to learn new techniques and instrumentation.
• Excellent spoken and written English.  
• Common sense and logic-based thinking.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work unsupervised. 
• Solid and positive inter-personal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize.

JOB DETAILS:

• Hourly range: $20.00 - $22.00, profit sharing potential unavailable.
• Type: Full-time (temporary)
• Schedule: generally, M-F
• Position begins: Mid-July
