Chemical Technician determines the physical and chemical properties of compounds and materials using quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis. Performs a variety of chemical tests using instrumental methods and standard test equipment. Being a Chemical Technician prepares materials for laboratory examination and conducts quality, safety, and compliance assessments. Follows established SOPs. Additionally, Chemical Technician sets up and maintains lab equipment. Records and tabulates data and documents observations and results. Requires an associate degree in chemistry, science or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Chemical Technician works under moderate supervision. This job may require the following: primarily sitting while working on computer /speaking on the phone, and reaching above shoulder heights and below the waist as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday and lift up to 50 pounds on occasion. Primary environment: Inside working area - ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. May occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, and mandatory hearing protection.
