Chemical Technician determines the physical and chemical properties of compounds and materials using quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis. Performs a variety of chemical tests using instrumental methods and standard test equipment. Being a Chemical Technician prepares materials for laboratory examination and conducts quality, safety, and compliance assessments. Follows established SOPs. Additionally, Chemical Technician sets up and maintains lab equipment. Records and tabulates data and documents observations and results. Requires an associate degree in chemistry, science or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Chemical Technician works under moderate supervision. The Quality Technician is responsible for assisting in the Quality and Responsible Distribution functions of all Webb Chemical Operations. This position serves as the primary paperwork and inventory control data entry person for 1st and 2nd Shift Production. The position is also responsible for final inspection of all bulk chemical loads and packaged chemical containers utilizing proper Work Instructions/SOPs. The position is ultimately responsible for ensuring that tasks are completed in a manner that meets or exceeds all aspects of “Webb’s Quality and Environmental Commitment.”
RESPONSIBILITIES- Production activities
- Ensure retain samples are collected for every inbound railcar/tanker
- Manage the cleaning, organizing, and maintenance of a safe and professional work environment
- Facilities housekeeping for buildings and warehouses
- Other duties as assigned by the Quality and RespoPrimary inventory/paperwork point of contact for 1st shift or 2nd shift Production
- Conduct 100% Container Inspection process using approved Work Instructions/SOPs
- Conduct double checking on all bulk chemical loads/transfers via Webb double checker process
- Work with Production Supervisor, Quality Supervisor, and/or Quality Systems Coordinator to check and audit all Production activities
- Research and perform any/all inventory discrepancies as needed
- Perform Month End inventory and research adjustments and communicate with all necessary parties
- Manage all tool storage for items that require calibration and implement a 5S sign out process (bung torque wrenches, torque wrenches, temp gauges, rail car torque wrench and other required tools) by maintaining the IMTE (Inspection Measure Test Equipment), aka Calibration Log
- Creating new forms and documentation to reinforce Webb’s Quality Commitment as it pertains to Production output
- Creating and modifying Work Instructions to ensure information is relevant and all work zones/procedures are captured and maintained regarding all nsible Distribution Supervisor, the Quality Systems Coordinator, or Management
- Secondary Responsibilities
- Assisting with the creation of Webb CofA’s
- Taking samples or coordinating with Production to get samples
- Help Quality manage the retain sample cabinets
- Assist with the Quality Report Program
- Assist with the Quality projects as needed
- Assist with various Audits at Webb
SKILLS REQUIRED- 3-5 years working experience in Quality, Auditing, Production/Manufacturing Quality Control
- Associate’s Degree in Chemistry, Quality, or similar field of study strongly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and strong mathematical abilities
- Experience with inventory management and transactions in Chempax/Datacor
- Extreme attention to detail skills with excellent precision
- Quick-learner and ability to multi-task
- Self-Motivated
- Positive Mental Attitude (PMA)
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions daily/year round
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to work closely with others

PHYSICAL CAPACITY- Weight- lift 50-100lbs

WORK SCHEDULE- 40 hours/week, OT as needed
