Performs a variety of chemical tests using instrumental methods and standard test equipment. Being a Chemical Technician prepares materials for laboratory examination and conducts quality, safety, and compliance assessments. Follows established SOPs. Additionally, Chemical Technician sets up and maintains lab equipment. Records and tabulates data and documents observations and results. Requires an associate degree in chemistry, science or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Chemical Technician works under moderate supervision. Job Duties
1. Retrieve all fluid samples according to Cat Process Fluid ME determined schedule for Chemist/Senior Tech and deliver to lab for chemical analysis
2. Perform tank side concentration checks of wash, rinse, & standalone coolant tanks, making concentrate adds as needed or based on Cat Process Fluid ME determined schedule
3. Inspect status of washers/coolant tanks while pulling samples and communicate with the facility if any issues.
4. Perform scheduled tests on saltwater from the ECM unit to ensure it lies in the correct range
5. Record all chemical test results on SharePoint forms & spreadsheets and report to the site manager.
6. Own & maintain chemical crib 5S practices, help clean and maintain chemical crib.
