Chemical Technician determines the physical and chemical properties of compounds and materials using quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis. Performs a variety of chemical tests using instrumental methods and standard test equipment. Being a Chemical Technician prepares materials for laboratory examination and conducts quality, safety, and compliance assessments. Follows established SOPs. Additionally, Chemical Technician sets up and maintains lab equipment. Records and tabulates data and documents observations and results. Requires an associate degree in chemistry, science or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Chemical Technician works under moderate supervision. The Registered Nurse on the Adult Chemical Dependency unit is an essential member of our patient care team who is responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process in all assigned areas. They will be responsible for consistently and independently conducts a thorough admission interview and systematic physical assessment, assessing the needs for services of other health care professionals to facilitate the delivery of patient care, and developing, implementing and revising appropriate patient care plans. They will carefully and thoroughly document patient conditions, care given and responses to care given and performs patient education and facilitates groups.
The Adult Chemical Dependency Unit provides care to patients ages 15 and older. The most frequent diagnoses' are physiological dependency to alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and/or other drugs. Many patients will also have other associated psychiatric diagnoses' such as depression, psychosis, and bipolar disorder. The Adult Chemical Dependency Unit operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Adult Chemical Dependency Unit is located on the D4 wing of St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
