Chemical Technician determines the physical and chemical properties of compounds and materials using quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis. Performs a variety of chemical tests using instrumental methods and standard test equipment. Being a Chemical Technician prepares materials for laboratory examination and conducts quality, safety, and compliance assessments. Follows established SOPs. Additionally, Chemical Technician sets up and maintains lab equipment. Records and tabulates data and documents observations and results. Requires an associate degree in chemistry, science or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Chemical Technician works under moderate supervision. What We are Looking For:
Dr. Aaron's Wright biomedical research group in the Department of Biology is seeking a postdoctoral research associate with expertise in chemical biology and/or organic chemistry. Dr. Wright's group is focused on phenotype-driven studies of the gut microbiome and other complex biological systems. Within this focus, the research group has a strong program in the synthesis and application of chemical probes in complex biological systems and measurements of probe labeling by LC-MS based proteomics, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry. We are hoping to extend our expertise by identifying exceptionally motivated individuals with a Ph.D. and a background in chemical biology or organic chemistry.
