Successful candidates will primarily be responsible for daily production by assisting in the preparation and analysis of environmental samples for water and soil.     Experience performing organic extraction sample prep is a plus!

    Key Responsibilities: Upon completion of training, successful completion of an Initial Demonstration of Capability, and annual Continuing Demonstrations of Capability, responsibilities will include:

    • Preparation and analysis of environmental samples in water and soil
    • Participation in York’s Quality Program including, but not limited to, Corrective and Preventative Actions
    • Comply with all Quality Assurance Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Chemical Hygiene Plan, and all Health and Safety protocols
    • Other Duties as assigned by laboratory management

    Position Requirements:

    • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in environmental or physical sciences
    • Experience in a production analytical testing laboratory
    • Understanding of chemistry, solutions and solvents
    • Proficient in data processing and analysis
    • Strong organizational skills with an ability to multitask
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry
    • “Hands on” experience with any GC-FID, GC-ECD, or GC/MS instrumentation, or Automated Solid Phase Extraction, or Ion Chromatograph, or Purge & Trap autosamplers and concentrators
    • Working knowledge of EPA methodologies
    • Working knowledge of Promium Element or other LIMS

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
