  • JOB DESCRIPTION – Chemist I

    Position Purpose and Objectives

    The Chemist I’s primary role is to ensure the adherence of incoming raw materials, in-process samples, and finished good product for compliance to regulatory, analytical, and microbiological standards set for by XYMOGEN. This person is responsible for testing and release in-process, finished good products, and raw materials.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Managing rejection log when materials are found to be non-compliant with standards
    • Controls the release/hold process in for all incoming materials, in-process, and finished good products
    • Perform testing of IR on incoming raw materials, finished products, and Stability samples
    • Perform testing of Moisture on incoming raw materials, In-process samples, and Stability samples
    • Perform testing on raw material to assure compliance with raw material specifications
    • Perform testing on finished good product to assure compliance with FPSP
    • Review and update the Quality Control SOPs when deem necessary
    • Maintain reagents inventory
    • Maintain reference standards inventory
    • Must be able to handle other responsibilities as determined by the Laboratory Manager

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

    • Knowledge on cGMP and GLP
    • Knowledge of basic wet chemistry and Infrared Spectrophotometer equipment
    • Knowledge of HPLC instrument and ICP-MS
    • Knowledge of sterile sample technique
    • Organoleptic evaluation skills
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe software

    Working Conditions

    • Micro and analytical QC labs, and manufacturing environment (fully GMP environment)

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Science
    • 1 year experience under a GMP environment
    • Experience in working the Quality Control Lab of a food, beverage, or pharmaceutical field (preferred)

    Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
