NMC is currently recruiting a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) provides leadership and direction for the nursing division to advance the professional practice of nursing across the organization while focusing on education and staffing to support the needs of our patients. The CNO works with the management team and medical leadership of the hospital to ensure seamless patient transitions across our systems and community resources; balances the clinical priorities of nursing with the accountability to high reliability systems, costs, effective utilization of services, customer service, and quality goals. The CNO analyzes and utilizes data and other information to develop and support strong clinical decisions and integration across organization with primary focus being strong clinical systems, program development, quality, fiscal management, compliance and clinical management measures, physician relationships, outreach strategies, work culture enhancement and internal communication and consensus building. The CNO will ensure Northwestern Medical Center (NMC) disparate resources are focused on enterprise-wide on optimally satisfying the health care needs of those we serve. The CNO ensures sufficient and properly prepared personnel carry out the functions of the nursing and patient care departments, understands social, economical, and legal issues affecting the healthcare systems and seeks all opportunities to advance the clinical practice of staff to continually excel in healthcare practices. The CNO develops, directs the implementation, and ensures compliance with standards of nursing and clinical practice that promote optimum healthcare delivery.
PREREQUISITES:
Education: BSN required. Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing, MHA, MBA, MPH preferred, with ability to complete within 24 months of hire.
Experience: At least five years of experience in hospital nursing, clinical operations. Experience with promoting professional practice of nursing through advancing education, strong nursing relations, systems thinking, nurse patient ratios, community service partnerships and service line development.
Licensure: Current VT RN license; Certification in Nursing Leadership a plus.
Other: The CNO must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide exceptional care appropriate to the age of the patients served at NMC. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary to successfully interact with all levels of hospital employees, clinical staff, outside providers and patients to develop excellence in priority clinical service lines. Good judgment and organizational skills. Must be able to demonstrate above average team building skills and attention to detail.
