    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    In accordance with the Bylaws and policies established by the Board of Directors, and under the supervision of the Director of Teen Leadership Initiatives, the Coordinator of Teen Leadership Initiatives will provide support, planning, and implementation of activities for the Teen Leadership Initiatives Department. 


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist in all aspects of the planning and implementing of all Y Achievers Programming.
    • Responsible for at least five of the monthly school mentor sessions including the communication with the teacher and mentors, and the leading of the session conducted during the school day
    • Serves as a sponsor on weekend trips for Career Readiness Program
    • Assist in all aspects of the implementing of the Youth & Government program activities
    • Assisting with the registration of all students, adults, and volunteers for all Teen Leadership Programs
    • Assist in gathering and complying data for all Teen Leadership Programs events and the associated grant reporting as required.
    • Assist with Monthly Teen Leadership Council Meetings (typically in the evening hours) as needed. 
    • Assist with Teen Leadership Council Socials and Service Events as a chaperone as needed.
    • Possess the ability to relate with teens, parents, peers, branch staff, volunteers, and community.
    • Maintain and ensure confidentiality of all participants in the program.
    • Assist in clearing, training, and equipping all volunteers for the Teen Leadership Department
    • Follow all guidelines and procedures established by the YMCA.
    • Other responsibilities and assignments appropriate with position evolvement and/or as assigned by the Director of Teen Leadership Initiatives.
    • Daytime, Night, and weekend hours could be assigned.
    • Average of 10 hours per week. 


    EFFECT ON END RESULTS:

    This position provides guidance and leadership to ensure key program areas are up-to-date and effective in their reach in support of the population we serve within the mission of the YMCA. The effectiveness of this position is measured by:

    • Student/participant participation rates
    • Recruitment of new schools and students
    • Community partner participation and program satisfaction
    • Number of external partners
    • Depth and breadth of programs 

    Requirements

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid.
    • 2-3 years of experience working with Youth & Teen programs
    • Strong personal commitment to demonstrating a passion for working to improve the quality and impact of YMCA youth programs throughout our community.
    • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills 
    • Strong project management, organization and implementation skills.
    • Proficient and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
    • Must be 21 years of age
    • Upon hire – complete the Defensive Driving Course in order to drive the YMCA Mini Bus (a special license is not required).
    • Computer proficiency in a variety of Microsoft Office software and strong technical capabilities for learning other systems as necessary.
