Chief CAT Scan Technologist oversees computer-assisted tomography and the maintenance of department supplies, equipment, and facilities to ensure the quality of services. Introduces and teaches new techniques to staff. Being a Chief CAT Scan Technologist maintains environmental, infection control, and safety procedures for the department. Typically requires an associate's degree. Additionally, Chief CAT Scan Technologist requires completion of radiologic technology training and American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) registration. Typically reports to a director. The Chief CAT Scan Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, procedures and policies, the CT technologist performs a variety of CT procedures, both invasive and non-invasive in nature, that may require independent judgment. Must show ingenuity and initiative to prescribed ionizing radiation procedures used for radiological diagnoses. May be required to assume additional responsibilities for designated duties.
Education: Graduate of the AMA accredited Radiography Technology program or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification: Certified registered technologist of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology (ARRT). ARRT registry in CT preferred or required within 1 year of hire eligibility. Certified by the Ohio Department of Health. BLS required.
Experience: CT experience preferred.
Skills: Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to exhibit patience and tact and maintain a professional and courteous demeanor in all situations with all constituents including patients, physicians and other associates. Must also demonstrate flexibility with work schedule changes, be cooperative and collaborative, and have the documented ability to work with speed and proficiency while under stress. Performs a variety of CT exams including neuro, abdomen, ortho, and assists the Radiologist with invasive procedures.
