The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) collaborates with and provides a second level of leadership for the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to ensure the monitoring and assessment of facility-wide patient nursing care for adults, adolescents and children and to ensure that clinical nursing practice is based on established procedures and ensures the highest possible quality of patient care. The ACNO acts as the hospital's senior Nursing official in the absence of the Chief Nursing Officer. Knowledge and understanding of all appropriate nursing and hospital administrative policies and procedures applicable to state laws and standards. Demonstrates strong leadership skills and organizational ability. Demonstrates superior communication skills and is adaptable to changing situations. Maintains awareness of professional image and demonstrates knowledge of principles of organizational, hospital and fiscal management.

Schedule is Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm, and other times as directed by the CNO.

Education:

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. BSN or MSN Preferred.

Experience:

Three years' experience in psychiatric nursing preferred. Three years administrative/supervisory experience preferred.

License:

Current RN licensure in the State of North Carolina or compact state. BLS / CPI annual certification.

Physical requirements:

Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Job may be defined as sedentary when walking and standing are required occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
