Position Summary:  As our Development Officer you will foster a culture of philanthropy and ensure that fund development is executed in keeping with our values, vision, and mission.

The Development Officer provides leadership and direct support for all development functions.   Works closely with our Administrator in the execution of all annual fundraising plans.  Provides direction for all campaigns, appeals and events.  

The Development Officer will provide the strategic vision necessary to build on the strengths of our philanthropy program while raising awareness of our mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• The development and implementation of all Major and Planned Gift Programs, including the design of unique gift and relationship goals for all established or new donors.
• The research and cultivation of new donors, including the qualification of current donors; the management of the gift-cycle, including gift closing and stewardship.
• Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, and financial needs of Misericordia. Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.   Draft grant proposals and supporting documentation for timely submission.
• The planning and promotion of Events and Special Appeals.
• The preparation and oversight of all Solicitations and Mailings, evaluating the solicitation of individuals, foundations, businesses, and community partners.  Mailings may include appeals, newsletters, and the Annual Report.
• Maintain a current, thorough, and accurate database.  Generating reports as needed and ensuring the timely acknowledgement of all gifts.
• The creation and maintenance of the Annual Development Calendar.

Required Skills and Qualifications:                                                                                                                                       The successful applicant should have proven experience as a fundraising and organizational development specialist with experience in a non-profit organization or similar environment.   You must be motivated, have the ability to solve complex problems and have a passion for philanthropy.

• 3 or more years of experience working in a development office or other fund-raising capacity.
• A passion for senior citizens and their quality of life.
• Strong computer, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• A commitment to maintaining confidentiality of all donors.
