    About the Position

    This position is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment, admissions, orientation, and enrollment process for Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies at Western Washington University. Upholding the College’s strategic vision, this position actively works to provide access and support to a diverse student body by fostering and strengthening relationships with student populations and communities. The Enrollment & Orientation Manager (EOM) assumes the full duties of recruiting prospective students, advising students through the application process and initial course schedules, and serves as the lead point person in the College for new student orientation programming. The EOM serves as a critical member of the Fairhaven College Enrollment Management Team and actively participates in the planning, coordination, and implementation of college strategy, outreach, and promotion efforts.

    This is a full-time, 12-month position that includes occasional regional travel, primarily within the State of Washington, and includes some evening and weekend hours.

    The EOM reports to the Fairhaven College Academic Services Manager and works closely and collaboratively with the Fairhaven College Dean, faculty, staff, and students to implement outreach, enrollment, and recruitment goals as defined by the college.

    Position Duties and Responsibilities

    College outreach & recruitment promotion, outreach, admissions advising (40%)

    • Lead coordination, planning, and execution of college recruitment activities and initiates recruitment strategies with Fairhaven programs, including the design and implementation of recruitment campaigns for both new first year/transfer students as well as current WWU students. This may include local or regional recruitment or outreach travel.
    • Consult and provide feedback on Fairhaven print and web marketing and communication pieces. Collaborate with WWU marketing and graphic design to create and update marketing and outreach print materials for the College in support of recruitment and orientation.
    • Management of response to all prospective student/family inquiries, including provision of advising and guidance on the admissions processes to WWU and Fairhaven College
    • Collaborate with stakeholders within and outside of the College to respond to reporting needs concerning admission data. Monitor trends and make adjustments to enrollment, as necessary in collaboration with the Enrollment Management team.
    • Initiate, facilitate and strengthen relationships between Fairhaven College and external community partners such as high schools, community and technical colleges, tribal colleges, and community agencies and nonprofits.
    • Advise students about Fairhaven courses and main-campus courses to assist students’ course mapping and academic planning.
    • Providing information for students regarding Fairhaven scholarship and grant programs

    Enrollment management, application review & documentation (30%)

    • Management of Fairhaven College admissions process, including evaluation of student applications through interviewing, advising conversations, interest sessions, and workshops.
    • Manage caseload of new Fairhaven students and for first quarter advising.
    • Maintain records of current and prospective students.

    Orientation and enrollment programming/advising (20%)

    • Lead in the development and implementation of new student orientation, quarterly registration of new students, and other college and university-wide activities in collaboration with university academic advising and new student orientation programs.

    Collaborative participation in overall college governance, events and operations. (10%)

    • Representation of Fairhaven College as liaison with Western Washington University Academic Advising and Student Achievement Center.
    • Coordination of opportunities for Fairhaven faculty, staff, alumni, and students to participate in community outreach efforts, including events for prospective and admitted students, orientation sessions, and other special programming as needed.
    • Train and supervise student employees

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or Associates degree plus at least five years of higher education professional experience.
    • Excellent skills in interpersonal communication, written communication and public presentation.
    • Ability to troubleshoot a problem through bureaucratic management systems/processes.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and commitment to areas of accessibility, diversity, inclusion, and equity.
    • Direct student services, counseling, or academic advising experience.
    • Display strong planning and organizing skills, attention to detail, and ability to produce desired results.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a strong collaborative team environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
    • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bilingual ability (e.g. Spanish, Mandarin, etc.)
    • Demonstrated knowledge of andragogy and student development theory.
    • Knowledge and/or experience with interdisciplinary, student-centered, alternative academic programs.
    • Experience in college or university admissions, advising and recruitment.
    • Experience collaborating with faculty and/or university administration.
    • Experience organizing and developing recruitment and/or orientation events.
    • Experience with Banner, student information systems, OnBase, Slate, or other document management systems
    • Administrative experience in higher education student and/or academic affairs.
