Provider Enrollment Specialist

  • Position Summary

    This position will be responsible for credentialing new and established health care providers, and maintenance of information to include application completion, follow up, data collection, data entry, and document review. Depending on the skill set and experience of the candidate selected, there may also be the opportunity to perform billing duties.
     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Maintains knowledge of current health plans and agency requirements for insurance credentialing of providers/clinicians
    2. Tracks license, DEA, and CSR expirations for all FQHC providers/clinicians
    3. Collect, update and maintain necessary provider information and documentation in Credential Stream Software and verify the information where possible.
    4. Establish and maintain data entry in CAQH.
    5. Prepare credentialing applications for all initial applications and recredetialining in a timely and complete manner to minimize loss of revenue.
    6. Verify provider and group information with insurance companies (addresses, provider rosters, contracted plans, provider numbers, etc.).
    7. Coordinate information for enrollment and terminations of all providers.
    8. Maintain good rapport and professional communication with Health Plan Representatives.
    9. Build strong working relationships with medical facilities and provider offices.
    10. Adhere to department policies and procedures including timely delivery of completed work and use of resources.
    11. Responsible for entering, updating, maintaining NPI and any other applicable provider numbers.
    12. Provide concise, timely communication to appropriate leadership regarding potential credentialing issues.
    13. Proactively share knowledge with colleagues.
    14. Perform analysis and appropriate follow-up of each initial application and recredentialing application.
    15. Become efficient with Credential Stream Software
    16. Work with physicians, professional staff and physicians' office staff to acquire necessary materials and information.
    17. Maintain records with strong attention to detail.
    18. Must be able to multi-task and handle multiple complex projects and processes at the same time.
     
     

    Secondary Job Duties That May be Reassigned:

    1. Gets and distributes incoming, outgoing, and interoffice main.
    2. Answers and directs phone calls.

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

    1. Education: Associate’s degree required, plus 2-5 years of experience with medical insurance billing, medical terminology, insurance enrollment/credentialing, PECOS, Indiana Medicaid Provider Portal, CAQH, and other payor portals
    2. Proficient computer skills
    3. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
    4. Outstanding organization skills
    5. Willingness to take on new tasks and responsibilities.
    6. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
