Represents the organization to investors, the industry, and the public. Additionally, Chief Executive Officer - Physician Practice may require a MD. May require State License to Practice Medicine.     As a key member of the Executive Team, the Chief Financial Officer plans, develops and directs the financial activities of Riverview Health and related entities, including budgeting, cost analysis, financial planning, financial reporting, annual and special audits, grant management and all funds accounting, investment activities. Serves as financial resource for strategic planning with a focus on developing strategies that maximize hospital fiscal performance to support the delivery of high-quality patient care. 

    Job Responsibilities

    • Maximize the financial performance of Riverview Health and all its entities. Analyze the profitability of existing hospital operations, product lines, contractual agreements, etc., making recommendations when appropriate for improvement. 
    • Act as a change agent to manage expenses and reduce variation in organization/process/procedures. Metric-focused to target overall hospital improvement in operations and finance.  Leading cost reduction efforts when necessary.  
    • Participate in the hospital financial reporting process. Supervise the preparation of reports outlining the hospital’s financial position and operating profit and loss statement.  Oversee audits by external auditors and other 3rd parties.
    • Develop and administer the organization’s budget annually and ensure alignment with long term financial and strategic goals for approval by the board of directors,  
    • Participate in the preparation and timely filing of federal, state, hospital association, third party, and other financial reports as required.
    • Develop employees through appropriate management practices, create a hospital climate to motivate employees to highest performance. Establish direction, coach employees, provide feedback, and build commitment.
    • Plan and direct major program planning and development activities to assure the accomplishment of the operational mission and organizational objectives.
    • Identify, implement, and evaluate Revenue Cycle strategies that create efficiencies to maximize Revenue Cycle performance.
    • Ensure accounting systems safeguard the organizational assets, provide viable management information and are in accordance with generally accepted accounting and audit principles. 
    • Oversee maintenance of data and reporting costs to third party payors for appropriate reimbursement of incurred costs in providing patient care services. 
    • Direct accounting and business office policy and procedures to ensure timely receipt of payments and adequate cash flow, expedite workflow, and control cost of operations. 
    • Participate with senior management in policy development and coordination of Riverview Health and Riverview Surgical Management Association operations.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education Requirements

    • Minimum: Baccalaureate degree in business, health services administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
    • Preferred: Master's Degree

    Experience Requirements

    • Minimum: Five (5) years demonstrated healthcare experience including financial analysis, cost allocation, reimbursement, and budgeting, and/or previous CFO in healthcare facility.
    • Preferred: Ten years hospital financial management experience with revenues greater than $200M

    • Minimum:  None
