Oversees part installation and inspects adjustments or modifications to existing parts. Being a Chief Flight Inspector performs preflight and post flight inspections identifying any breach of standards for safe flight. Requires a high school diploma, a flight inspector license. Reporting directly to the Chief Flight Instructor, this position is designed to aid the department with providing leadership of the department at the Eastman airport. The Assistant Chief will perform the duties and responsibilities of the Chief Instructor when required. The position is Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved and will represent the school according to FAA standards. This position is in charge of stage check and flight instructors. The Assistant Chief will also be instructing senior students toward their FAA certificates and ratings.
Duty 1 -
Manages a team of flight instructors.
Duty 2 -
Provides assistance to faculty, staff, and students.
Duty 3 -
Manages the flight instructor's work schedules.
Duty 4 -
Manages information on TSA website and record documents (tracking student accounts).
Duty 5 -
Manages student FAA records.
Duty 6 -
Serves as the airline liaison to the flight department.
Duty 7 -
Manages and organizes all flight instructor files (FAA).
Duty 8 -
Responsible for managing social media accounts for department.
Duty 9 -
Responsible for managing and tracking flight schedules of instructors, students, and aircraft with stage check instructors.
Duty 10 -
Coordinates safety-meeting documents related to the department.
Duty 11 -
Perform other duties as assigned to support campus operations.
Educational Requirements
Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
Other Required Qualifications
CFI, CFII, and MEI certificate with current 2nd class medical.
Must be willing and able to work overtime and weekend shifts as required.
Required Experience
Minimum 1000 hours pilot in command time and remaining hours of experience as referenced in FAR 141.36 for all courses taught at the institution.
Preferred Experience
Minimum of two years of instructing experience.
Experience with managing social media sites (e.g. Facebook and Instagram).
Other Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of university and school policies and procedures.
Knowledge of Banner/Swords, MyDegree and Peoplesoft.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook).
Knowledge of admission, registration and degree program requirements.
Knowledge of computer and job-related software programs.
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
Skill in decision-making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skill in prioritizing and organization of workload.
Skill in the use of such office equipment, scanner, fax machine and copier.
