POSITION SUMMARY : The Supervisor of Flight Communications oversees Flight Communications Specialists 24 / 7 within the Flight Communications department including initiating flight requests for transport of patients from accident sites to hospitals and hospital to hospital referrals, tracking aircraft flight plans, supporting the needs of flight crews during transport of patients, and flight tracking and monitoring of OSF aircraft in flight.
The Supervisor of Flight Communications audits calls requesting Life Flight and dispatching of flight crews to ensure established procedures are followed, and works as a Flight Communications Specialist on an as needed basis to assist in staffing.
Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : Education : High School / GED Licenses / Certifications : Certified Flight Communicator certification as recognized by International Air Medical Transport Communications Specialist (IAMTCS) Experience : 2 years of experience in the following : Firefighter, EMT, Medical Communications, 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatch, or Flight Communications.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Experience : Current Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, Intermediate or Paramedic with 5 years of experience Previous experience with Air Medical Communication Services Other requirements / information : Proficient with CAD system and mapping software Knowledge in the use of Google Maps coordinates, Google Earth landing zones, Delorme Street Atlas, Microsoft Office Knowledge of the State of Illinois and the geographical locations of cities / interstates within the state Knowledge of radio systems (frequencies, troubleshooting (hand held / desk top) OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
