Chief Helicopter Pilot partners with general aviation management to establish and implement operating policies and procedures for helicopter pilots. Ensures flights are operated in compliance with all applicable FAA regulations. Being a Chief Helicopter Pilot schedules flight personnel, maintenance and maintains flight records. Assumes flight duty. Additionally, Chief Helicopter Pilot has all required licenses and meets flying time requirements. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Commercial Pilot license for helicopters - CPL(H). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Helicopter Pilot manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Helicopter Pilot typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. They offer on-demand charter flights to a variety of destinations, including Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. 
     
     
    They are a Part 125 Air Cargo Services provider that specializes in transporting auto parts, heavy equipment, and other cargo across the United States and other locations. They have a fleet of three Boeing 737-300F Freighters and one Boeing 727-200 Tri-Jet Freighter, and their pilot bases or domiciles are located at KTOL - Toledo Express Airport/Swanton, OH.
     
     
    They are currently seeking a Chief Pilot in El Paso, TX.
     

    Salary $125K to $150K

    Schedule Fulltime 18 days on, 12 days off per crew rotation. (I have some flexibility but this is preferred).

     

    CHIEF PILOT

     

    OVERVIEW: The Chief Pilot (CP) will serve as a base manager and a liaison between the line pilot group and the Director of Operations and management team. They will assist in flight duties, training, and other responsibilities as required.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Able to perform flight operations in accordance with company’s procedure manual and FAA Regulations.
    • Flexibility for on-demand, ad-hoc, 24/7/365 flight operations.
    • Execute other non-flight related duties such as loading, TSA, Hazmat, etc.
    • Coordinates the selection of new flight crewmembers with the Director of Operations and Human Resources.
    • Assures the distribution of timely, accurate technical, and administrative information to the flight crewmembers.
    • Monitors the proficiency and technical knowledge of flight crewmembers and recommends improvements in their training as necessary.
    • When appropriately qualified and authorized, may conduct ground and flight instruction and checking.
    • Monitors and approves contracted training agencies.
    • Develops and maintains crewmember training material.
    • Ensures the primary responsibility for the administration of disciplinary action involving flight crewmembers.
    • Assigns and directs all crewmember training days.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.
    Requirements:
    • Current First Class Medical
    • Current Passport for travel into/out of the United States.
    • Must be based in El Paso, TX.
    • Must hold Airline Transport Pilot certificate with fleet experience in turboprop or light jets.
    • While on duty, must be on call 24/7 per company Ops Specs.
    • At least three (3) years experience as PIC of an aircraft operated under parts 121, 125, or 135.
    • At least three (3) years experience as a Chief Pilot or other aviation management level role.
    • Ability to lead pilot group and assist in training, recruitment, and retention.
    • Effective communication, both written and verbal.
    • Team-oriented, creates an inclusive and motivating work environment.
    • Action-oriented, seizes opportunities to make quick and efficient decisions.
