    Position Summary:

    Under direct supervision of the Information Technology (IT) Director, provides software and network support, training and troubleshooting in a hospital-oriented computer information systems (CIS) environment. Provides support on a wide range of applications and products. Support personal computer hardware and software in a 7-day, 24-hour environment. Incumbent will also be required to contact various vendors and application(s) support teams.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Act as IT support to all locations, providing technical assistance to employees.
    • Respond to user requests for service and determines nature and extent of support needed.
    • Provide support and/or refers to the appropriate staff member. Must be a self-starter and willing to self-learn all technologies deployed at Sage Memorial Hospital.
    • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide range of computer information systems. Perform simple maintenance on hardware/software used throughout the organization. Perform hardware/software upgrades to existing computer equipment as needed. Provide recommendations to the IT Director regarding potential problems to the computer information systems.
    • As a member of the IT staff, respond to problem calls on site or over the phone for users. Investigate error messages and determine resolution(s). Reinstall program or replace files that are causing errors. Investigate appropriate areas of potential problem and determine best resolution. Maintain a log and documentation of all IT related tasks.
    • Responsible for installation of workstations or movement of workstations and updating the current inventory.
    • Call in equipment on service contracts, packs equipment that needs to be returned for repairs.
    • Ensure frequent and timely upgrades, as assigned by the IT Director.
    • Ensure confidentiality of all records on any system and the integrity of sensitive data (HIPAA compliance). Maintain confidentiality and strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and HITECH Act.
    • Process purchase orders for supplies, equipment and services, as assigned by the IT Director.
    • Maintain department log of service order requests, issues and resolutions using IT tracking system.
    • Perform data back-ups and maintain a backup schedule.
    • Contribute to a team effort and accomplishes IT related goals as required.
    • Must maintain professionalism with other staff, patients, and visitors while performing their tasks.
    • Perform other duties as required for the operation of the hospital.

    Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:

    • Knowledge of hardware and software installation, testing, and operation.
    • Knowledge of computer science and the methods, techniques, practices, and procedures utilized in computer information systems.
    • Knowledge of LAN/WAN, methods, techniques, and best practices.
    • Ability to isolate system problems quickly and take proper corrective action. Must be proactive with excellent troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to comprehend new technology with ease.
    • Ability to understand and translate technical terminology and reports into a clear and logical format.
    • Ability to establish priorities, and to coordinate and organize work activities: project management skills.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Strong recordkeeping skills (maintaining accurate records, reports, and data).
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations: problem solving skills.
    • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds, employees, patients, and visitors

    • Must work well with IT staff. • Ability to work independently and efficiently under stressful conditions, makes solid decisions, and exercise independent judgment.

    • Ability to distinguish colors, good eyesight and capacity to read very small print.

    • Skill in presenting and explaining technical information to others. • Skill in reviewing and interpreting technical documents, manual, journals, and instructions.

    • Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.
    • Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and office related software programs.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to speak the Navajo language and/or familiarity with the Navajo Way a plus, but not required.

    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and be able to reach out and pick up and hold small objects. This position requires physical dexterity to perform all the duties expected including sitting, eye strain, ability to use a keyboard and mouse, walking, standing, stooping, climbing, bending, crawling into narrow spaces, lifting items weighing 35 pounds, and any other physical demands required to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

    Work Environment:

    Established work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Work is generally performed in an office setting with moderate noise. This position also requires weekends, holidays, on-call shifts (day/night), as well as including working indoor/outdoor environment. Travel may be required to handle IT support calls to our satellite clinic.
