  • The Chief Financial Officer serves as the primary financial officer for the Colorado West Healthcare System d/b/a Community Hospital (“Community”), Hospital and Clinics. Major responsibilities include developing and maintaining a strategic financial plan and annual operating and capital budgets; financial analysis of new programs, acquisitions, and business development; revenue management; preparation of the financial statements, in accordance with financial management and techniques appropriate to the health care industry; decision support and cost accounting; oversight of disbursements and receivables processes.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Financial Strategy and Planning: Develop and execute the financial strategy for the healthcare system, aligning it with the organization's overall goals and objectives. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making and drive sustainable growth.
    • Financial Management and Reporting: Oversee all financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, financial reporting, and internal controls. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to the executive leadership team, board of directors, and external stakeholders.
    • Revenue Cycle Management: Provide strategic oversight of revenue cycle management activities, including billing, collections, reimbursement, and revenue optimization. Collaborate with revenue cycle leaders to identify opportunities for process improvement, maximize cash flow, and reduce denials or revenue leakage.
    • Financial Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accounting principles, and healthcare industry standards. Implement and monitor internal controls to mitigate financial risks. Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations and reimbursement policies.
    • Strategic Financial Planning: Lead the development of financial plans, capital expenditure budgets, and long-term financial forecasts. Evaluate and recommend investment opportunities, cost-saving initiatives, and revenue enhancement strategies. Assess the financial viability of new programs, services, and acquisitions.
    • Contract Negotiations and Revenue Enhancement: Collaborate with payers, vendors, and other stakeholders to negotiate favorable contracts, reimbursement rates, and strategic partnerships. Identify and implement revenue enhancement opportunities through effective payer contract management and revenue optimization strategies.
    • Financial Decision Support: Provide financial analysis, modeling, and projections to support strategic initiatives, operational improvements, and business development opportunities. Assess the financial impact of proposed projects or initiatives and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
    • Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, develop, and manage a high-performing finance team. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members.
    • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including executives, board members, auditors, regulatory agencies, financial institutions, and investment partners. Effectively communicate financial performance, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.
    • Technology and Systems: Evaluate, select, and implement financial management systems, tools, and technologies to streamline processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and improve operational efficiency.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. A master's degree (e.g., MBA, MHA) is preferred.
    • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or other relevant professional certification required.
    • Extensive experience (typically 10 years) in financial management, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting. Experience in a senior financial leadership role is essential.
    • Strong knowledge of healthcare finance, reimbursement models, and healthcare regulatory environment.
    • Proven track record of financial leadership, strategic planning, and driving financial performance.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make informed decisions.
    • In-depth understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
    • Familiarity with healthcare revenue cycle management processes and revenue optimization strategies.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
    • Strong leadership and managerial abilities, with a track record of successfully leading and developing high-performing teams.
    • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and rapidly changing healthcare environment.
    • Proficiency in financial management systems, budgeting software, and data analytics tools

    This positions salary range is $250,000.00 to $280,000.00 annually, depending on education and experience. Discretionary bonuses, relocation expenses, merit increases, market adjustments, recognition bonuses and other forms of discretionary compensation may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
