Chief Operating Officer Objective
At the direction of the President and the Boards of Directors of Michigan Farm Bureau (MFB), Michigan Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Association (MACMA) and MFB, Inc., plan and direct the operations of the organization's staff and service functions. Develop and monitor operating budget spending and delivery of programs and services to members that meet the organization’s changing needs. Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement a strategic plan.
Chief Operating Officer Responsibilities
Ensure implementation of the directives of the Board of Directors. Serve as an aide and adviser to the President and the Board and provide for the timely awareness of operational matters as appropriate.
Facilitate communication and collaboration within the MFB leadership team to ensure cohesive leadership that efficiently and effectively furthers the mission of MFB.
Mentor and manage the MFB management team. Provide day-to-day management of Michigan Farm Bureau, MACMA, MFB, Inc., and Great Lakes Ag Labor Services (GLALS).
In conjunction with the Board of Directors, provide leadership and support in the development and implementation of MFB organizational goals, strategic action plans, and activities.
Plan, direct and supervise the business affairs of the companies, according to applicable laws and government regulations, under the general direction and control of the President and the Board.
Chief Operating Officer Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in agriculture or business required.
Ten years of experience in a membership-related organization or service industry required. Farm background or knowledge of current agriculture trends, issues, and events.
Preferred
Minimum five years of experience serving in a top-level executive capacity with equivalent responsibilities preferred.
