Chief MRI Technologist jobs in Florence, AL

Chief MRI Technologist oversees work in the magnetic resonance department, maintains technical aspects of radiologic safety and evaluates accuracy and quality of MRIs. Schedules work assignments and coordinates requests for services. Being a Chief MRI Technologist recommends new equipment, equipment modification, and crucial construction within the department. May perform duties of MRI Technologist as needed. Additionally, Chief MRI Technologist may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Requires a registration as a technologist by the A.R.R.T. Typically reports to a manager or director. The Chief MRI Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief MRI Technologist typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • None
    Duties/Responsibilities*:
    • Perform MRI procedures at a tech level in accordance with protocols
    • Maintain proper quality control procedures
    • Answering patient questions about the procedure
    • Adjusting equipment as needed to produce high-quality images
    • Evaluating images to make sure they meet the ordering provider’s requirements
    • Must have knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to MRI exams and equipment
    • Work as a team member within the imaging department
    Required Skills/Abilities:
    • Skill in operating MRI machines, computers and other high-tech equipment
    • Knowledge of basic patient care and activities that may be necessary during exam.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially when working with sick or injured patients
    • Ability to position patients as needed to obtain high-quality images
    • Strong attention to detail, particularly when reviewing orders and following MRI protocols
    • Knowledge of machine maintenance and troubleshooting procedures
    • Must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, management, and peers.
    Education and Experience:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Completion of an accredited Radiology program required
    • National registration with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists. (AART)
    Physical Requirements:

    Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted. Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
