Chief MRI Technologist oversees work in the magnetic resonance department, maintains technical aspects of radiologic safety and evaluates accuracy and quality of MRIs. Schedules work assignments and coordinates requests for services. Being a Chief MRI Technologist recommends new equipment, equipment modification, and crucial construction within the department. May perform duties of MRI Technologist as needed. Additionally, Chief MRI Technologist may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Requires a registration as a technologist by the A.R.R.T. Typically reports to a manager or director. The Chief MRI Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief MRI Technologist typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Position Responsibilities:
- Operates MRI Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency.
- Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient.
- Refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam.
- .Prepares patients for the procedure with a full explanation and documents on appropriate worksheets
- Interviews patients for a complete medical history
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology or active enrollment in a ARMRIT or ARRT registry eligible program required.
- ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology, ARRT or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine with advanced registry from the ARMRIT or ARRT in MRI required within one year of hire
- CPR certification required through AHA
