Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) manages daily planning, operations, and staff of a medical library to meet the information needs of users. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Responds to more complex requests from faculty, medical staff, and students. Additionally, Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) possess broad and current knowledge of medical developments and scientific literature. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a director. The Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. JOB SUMMARY
The Librarian position reports to the Regional Superintendent of Northern California and is accountable for in-custody and community library services for Five Keys.
We are looking for someone who insists on maintaining a positive attitude and enjoys supporting a diverse group of people. If this job is for you, you have exceptional interpersonal skills and are patient and caring. You also have the ability to adapt and be flexible. Additionally, you have an understanding of the importance of education in lowering the rate of recidivism.
This is a Public Education Enrichment Fund grant funded opportunity that works part-time, temporary, serving students in San Francisco and San Bruno, CA.
