    This position is responsible for assisting with planning, organizing, and directing Clinical Services within the healthcare system, including the development, implementation and administration of the Center's Health Care Plan, Performance Improvement Plan including the Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services, Medication Management, Surveillance, Prevention, and Control of Infection. The position also functions as a Provider of patient care and gives due consideration to productivity and departmental budget compliance. This position is also responsible for administrative, compliance and quality improvement procedures.


    Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress and have the ability to organize and prioritize work. Must possess the ability to supervise staff effectively, such as problem-solving and conflict resolution, administering performance evaluations, and other necessary supervisory management skills.


    STANDARD RESPONSIBILITIES:


    1. Knowledge and understanding of Employee Handbook.
    2. Carry out the meaning of the CSMD Mission and Vision statements.
    3. Practice a culture of safety to reduce or prevent risk of injury, claims, loss or liability by utilizing the Risk Management and Infection Control Plan.
    4. Perform responsibilities with a high-quality standard to yield improved compliance, quality, and patient outcome measures by adhering to the Quality Improvement Plan.
    5. Be present and ready for work as scheduled.
    6. Attend in-service trainings, departmental meetings, and community events.
    7. Work cohesively with team members.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:


    1. Performs clinical healthcare services within the scope of medical license.
    2. Provide for organization and maintenance of an effective system of medical care with emphasis on wellness and prevention of illness.
    3. Makes recommendations to the CMO regarding the employment, promotion, transfer, and discharge of all clinical staff and directly conducts the implementation of all decisions relating to the employment of these staff members.
    4. Makes recommendations to the CMO regarding the purchase of equipment and supplies needed to provide patient care.
    5. Supervises the performance improvement activities of the health center that relate to the clinic program including the clinical care measures.
    6. Conducts annual performance evaluations and chart review of providers and direct reports.
    7. Consults with the Chief Medical Officer or designee before decisions are made on questions of interpretation.
    8. Assists with the development, implementation, and evaluation the center's annual health care plan, policies, protocols, and procedures.
    9. Assign, direct, supervise, and review work of subordinates.
    10. Reviews credentials and references and evaluates standards for clinicians to ensure that their qualifications are maintained.
    11. Maintains licensure in good standing in the state.
    12. Maintains and assures implementation of all Joint Commission/Patient Centered Medical Home, and NCQA certification requirements.
    13. Assists with scheduling and timecard/payroll adjustments for the clinical staff.
    14. Prepare departmental meeting reports and may facilitate meetings.
    15. Leads the community health center's recruiting efforts for all clinical staff including physicians, mid-level providers.
    16. Participates as an integral part of the management team of the community health center.
    17. Attends monthly board meetings as scheduled and provides clinical reports, as needed.
    18. Assist CMO with preparation of quarterly reports to Chief Executive Officer outlining the Center's medical productivity and performance improvement adherence.
    19. Provide leadership and motivation to employees and students they supervise to effectively and efficiently complete their job functions/duties.
    20. May collaborate with mid-level providers.
    21. Oversees the orientation, training, and supervision of the Medical Department and support staff.
    22. Leads by example, holding themselves to the standards of conduct and performance that they command of subordinates.
    23. Attend required organizational meetings and participation on internal committees and may conduct or assist with conducting departmental meetings.
    24. Meet or exceed annual productivity standards.
    25. Utilizes technology to create a more efficient and effective way of doing business.
    26. Actively participates in outside association activities (LPCA, NACHC, etc.).
    27. Maintain confidentiality of workplace information according to the policies and procedures of the organization.
    28. Ensures maximum productivity of all medical Providers.
    29. Travel between CareSouth sites.
    30. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.

    REQUIREMENTS:


    1. EDUCATION:

    Must be a graduate of an approved and accredited Medical School.


    1. LICENSES, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    Board certified or Board eligible in Family Practice or Internal Medicine. Must be licensed to Practice Medicine in the State of Louisiana and possess a Medical School Diploma, Board Certification Notification and/or Residency Training Certificate. Federal DEA and Louisiana CDS license.


    1. JOB KNOWLEDGE:

    Must have supervisory experience.

    Must have clinical experience.

    Knowledge of clinical operations is preferred.

    Knowledge of quality improvement for health outcomes is desired.


    SUPERVISES:


    Directly supervises Director of RW Clinical Services, Staff Physicians, Mid-Level Providers, Psychiatrist, and Director of Nursing, and Behavioral Health Director.
