Chief Medical Officer directs the staff and develops policies for the organization's clinical programs. Works closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure that the highest standards of quality and service are maintained. Being a Chief Medical Officer oversees the implementation of quality improvement efforts designed to improve clinical performance and maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulations and standards. Evaluates developments and innovations in medical care and makes recommendations for new practices and procedures. Additionally, Chief Medical Officer advises CEO and medical teams on matters impacting patient care. Requires a MD. Requires State License to Practice Medicine. Typically reports to top management. Chief Operating Officer

  • The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will report directly to the CEO and will oversee operational systems and processes to ensure the facility is functioning at the highest level and giving priority to our patients. The COO will be responsible for stepping in as CEO in their absence, promoting high performance expectations to the leadership team, setting clear goals and expectations, providing leadership in the development and implementation of standards, systems, policies, and procedures in alignment with the organization?s goals, optimizing resources and providing input on staffing and resource planning, as well as working to develop and maintain positive relationships with executive level and other leadership/provider staff. Additionally, the COO is responsible for producing desired results associated with service excellence, quality clinical outcomes, and financial integrity for designated operations. Designated operations include multi-departmental accountability and administrative support to all of our leaders. This position serves as a role model to staff across the organization and represents the organization positively both within and outside the company.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Minimum requirements include the following:

    • Bachelor?s degree in business or relevant field required.
    • 5 years of experience in a healthcare administration/management role preferred.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Guides and directs management in the development and promotion of new and existing clinical programs and services for both short- and long-term business planning.
    • Keeps up to date with national best practices and develops strategic programs that become best practices.
    • Develops strategic plans to improve quality of care, generate revenue, and accomplish organizational objectives.
    • Evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and reports these results to the Chief Executive Officer.
    • Assists in managing costs by continually seeking data that will identify opportunities and take action to eliminate non-value costs in conjunction with the facility?s financial and nursing officers.
    • Recommends capital improvements such as upgrading the facility, including construction/renovation of structures and purchase of new equipment.
    • Establishes operating polices consistent with the Chief Executive Officer?s broad policies and objectives and ensures their execution.
    • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, and infection control.
    • Ensures that all organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, accrediting agency standards and laws governing healthcare operations.
    • Develops and installs procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow.
    • Directs and supports performance improvement activities for the facility.
    • Maintains an environment of collaboration and cooperation among facility departments.
    • Maintains a sound plan of corporate organization establishing policies to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession.
    • Oversees day-to-day operations and manages subordinate department managers who supervise staff members in multiple departments including, but not limited to: Hospital Director of Nursing, LTC Director of Nursing, Clinic Manager, Surgical Director, Therapy Director, Laboratory Director, Radiology Director, Dietary Manager, Social Services Director, MDS Coordinator.
    • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the subordinate departments.
    • Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
    • Maintains open lines of communication with subordinate departments.
    • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, assigning and directing work, counseling, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining personnel.
    • Works with CEO to create an environment that will encourage the recruiting and retention of qualified employees.
    • Maintains communication with the medical staff.
    • Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directive to personnel and encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions.
    • Ability to effectively present written and verbal information to top management, medical staff, public groups, and Governing Body.
    • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility.
    • Represents the facility at various professional, civic and governmental organizations and meetings.
    • Attends Department Head, Medical Staff, and other meetings as requested by the CEO.
    • May be required to travel to attend work-related meetings and educational opportunities.
    • In the absence of the CEO, the COO may be required to interpret facility policy and provide guidance.
    • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to the facility such as social and economic indicators, internal processes and other technical indicators. Report monthly to the CEO and quarterly to the Board of Directors.
    • Performs all duties or tasks requested by the CEO.

    ADDITIONAL TASKS

    • Treats all residents and patients with dignity and respect. Promotes and protects all residents? and patients? rights.
    • Establishes a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility policies and procedures. Complies with standards of business conduct, and state/federal regulations and guidelines.
    • Follows appropriate safety and hygiene measures at all times to protect residents, patients, and themselves.
    • Maintains confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications.
    • Reports noncompliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel. Reports any retaliation or discrimination to HR or CEO.
    • Reports any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and/or administrator. Protects residents and patients from abuse and cooperates with all investigations.
    • Reports any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy.
    • Participates in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings. Fulfills responsibilities as assigned during implementation or activation of the facility?s emergency plan.
    • Reports work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor.
    • Follows established infection control policies and procedures.
    • As a condition of employment, completes all assigned training and skills competency.

    • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk while working on a computer.
    • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.
    • Meets general health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases.
    • Ability to assist in evacuation of residents and patients during emergency situations.
    • May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases and/or conditions which include AIDS, Coronavirus, Hepatitis B, and Tuberculosis.
    • May be subject to hostile or emotional residents, patients, family members, visitors or personnel.
    • Intermediate computer skills, including ability to create documents in various programs (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Adobe), and navigate electronic medical record systems.
    • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
    • Works in well-lit, ventilated area.
    • Subject to frequent interruptions.
    • Communicates with medical and nursing staff, and other departments.
    • Subject to call-back during emergency conditions.
