Chief Medical Officer directs the staff and develops policies for the organization's clinical programs. Works closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure that the highest standards of quality and service are maintained. Being a Chief Medical Officer oversees the implementation of quality improvement efforts designed to improve clinical performance and maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulations and standards. Evaluates developments and innovations in medical care and makes recommendations for new practices and procedures. Additionally, Chief Medical Officer advises CEO and medical teams on matters impacting patient care. Requires a MD. Requires State License to Practice Medicine. Typically reports to top management. The Chief Medical Officer manages a business unit, division, or corporate function with major organizational impact. Establishes overall direction and strategic initiatives for the given major function or line of business. Chief Nursing Officer

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
     Sets the vision for nursing practice in the delivery of safe, timely, efficient, equitable and patient centered care.
     Manage the daily operations of nursing services.
     Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments and administration to ensure that all residents’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and when they are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints. 
    Ensure nursing services are provided in compliance with the laws and regulations of federal, state and local governmental agencies. Standards are met for accrediting agencies Anticipates and effectively manage changes in census and acuity and allocates nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity/care needed.
     Provide leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards.
     Serve as a member of the leadership team and on committees as required.
     Integrate nursing functions with clinical and programs, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
     Provide effective and efficient budget management that ensures the best utilization of resources. 
    Evaluate service needs and staffing requirements to ensure needs of patients are met.
     Provide staff management to include hiring, development, training, performance management and
    communication to ensure effective and efficient department operation.
     Develop and implement health care related training that assures the best possible delivery of health-related supports and services. Review training at least annually and makes modifications as needed. 
    Develop and maintain documentation systems for continuity of care and record storage that assures compliance with local, state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures. 
    Role models expectations related to customer service and demonstrates a sense of urgency related to
    the importance of patient safety. 
    Monitor unit/floor functioning by making frequent rounds.
     Intervene in crisis situations and investigate incidents.

     Develop and implement tools to measure, assess and improve quality of nursing care, treatment and service.
     Actively participate in strategic planning and budget development.
     Oversee nursing services documentation to ensure it meets all standards.
     Assist with direct care as needed.
    OTHER FUNCTIONS:
     Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

    Experience

    Required
    • 8 year(s):  Eight or more years’ nursing experience required.  Five or more years nursing management or administration experience required.  Three or more years’ experience in behavioral health preferred.

    Education

    Required
    • Masters or better in Nursing/Healthcare or related field
