Chief Medical Technologist oversees and administers a variety of chemical, bacteriologic, and microscopic tests. Devises work schedules and allocates duties to laboratory staff. Being a Chief Medical Technologist verifies accuracy and validity of test results. Instructs trainees in procedures and techniques of performing tests. Additionally, Chief Medical Technologist requires a bachelor's degree. Requires professional certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Medical Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Medical Technologist typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Position Summary:
The Chief Technologist will report to the Director Radiology, manages daily operations of the Radiology MRI Department to include the technical services of the MRI department. The Chief Technologist will also perform MRI procedures, serve as the MR Safety Officer (MRSO), and ensure appropriate documentation and reporting is completed. Responsible for promoting teamwork with all members of the healthcare team. Performs all duties in a manner consistent with St. Luke’s mission and values.
Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:
Education: Must be a graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiological Technology with certification in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Licensure: ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging ARRT (MR) required upon hire, MRSO certification required within one year of hire, Basic Life Support (BLS) required
