Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides administrative oversight for the nuclear medical technology department of a hospital. Reviews, develops and implements technical policies and procedures to ensure efficiency, quality and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Being a Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist supervises nuclear medicine technologists, and may perform the functions of a technologist as needed. Ensures proper usage, maintenance and updates of medical equipment. Additionally, Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist requires a bachelor's degree. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification. Typically requires Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certification. Typically reports to a director. The Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Halifax Health is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for the Radiology - Nuclear Medicine Department.

    Summary

    The Nuclear Med Tech will provide patient care and follow up as necessary to more than one area as assigned, while producing high quality images utilizing all gamma cameras.

    Job Qualifications

    • Must be a graduate of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (AMA) approved School of Radiologic Technology; a four year program is preferred
    • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
    • Licensed by the State of Florida in Nuclear Medicine Technology and have a current license
    • Need to have completed 16 hours of continuing education in CT and/or CT registered.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Conducts patient assessment and monitoring.
    • Provides radiopharmaceutical administration with patient assessment and follow up.
    • Oversees patient scheduling, obtains and disseminates appropriate medical information.
    • Demonstrates all necessary skills and knowledge of computers and/or equipment technology in Nuclear Medicine including but not limited to acquisition and processing, thyroid probe, dose calibrator, dosing computer, PACS, and HIS (Meditech).
    • Provides backup supervision (coordination) and direction to all radiology sections in the absence of a Coordinator.
    • Directly supervises students.
    • Completes student competency and performance evaluations as well as organizing student labs as required.
    • Maintains certification according to State, National and hospital regulations.
    • Must possess knowledge of State and JCAHO regulations and is expected to be familiar with the current Patient Safety Goals and the hospital's current core measures.
