Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides administrative oversight for the nuclear medical technology department of a hospital. Reviews, develops and implements technical policies and procedures to ensure efficiency, quality and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Being a Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist supervises nuclear medicine technologists, and may perform the functions of a technologist as needed. Ensures proper usage, maintenance and updates of medical equipment. Additionally, Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist requires a bachelor's degree. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification. Typically requires Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certification. Typically reports to a director. The Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Envision Imaging is seeking a PRN Nuclear Medicine Technologist at our North Arlington, TX location!
PRN (As-Needed) / Day Shifts and Saturdays | Position Pay Range: $37.60 - $48.47
Summary/Objective:
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares and administers radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic and tracer studies using a variety of radioisotope equipment. Detects and maps radiopharmaceuticals in patients’ body using a camera to produce photographic or computer images. Calculates doses to be administered.
Essential Functions
1. Interfaces with patient to ascertain medical history and provides instructions and explanation of the procedure and/or exam to obtain the best possible image.
2. Reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent. Screens patients for surgical and other implants, contrast allergies, etc.
3. Performs nuclear medicine and/or PET scans while attending to patient’s care before, during and following exam and notifies the appropriate party if patient’s condition changes at any time.
4. Maintains record of receipt and disposal of radioactive materials. Manages radioactive disposables for proper decay and disposal.
5. Performs injections of radioisotope and orders radioisotopes for next day’s exams.
6. Transfers images to other locations as needed.
7. Coordinates scan protocols with Radiologist.
8. Maintains and regularly inspects equipment and immediately reports any quality concerns as well as equipment failures or deficiencies.
9. Interfaces with Lead Technologist & Area Manager regarding any and all departmental concerns.
10. Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
This job operates in an environmentally controlled outpatient clinical environment. Potential exposure to radiation, which is minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Possible exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and other conditions common to a medical office environment. Often requires work in cool, dimly lighted rooms.
