Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist jobs in Saint Petersburg, FL

Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides administrative oversight for the nuclear medical technology department of a hospital. Reviews, develops and implements technical policies and procedures to ensure efficiency, quality and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Being a Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist supervises nuclear medicine technologists, and may perform the functions of a technologist as needed. Ensures proper usage, maintenance and updates of medical equipment. Additionally, Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist requires a bachelor's degree. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification. Typically requires Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certification. Typically reports to a director. The Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Nuclear Medicine Technologist Position Summary:

    Performs all Nuclear Medicine imaging, uptake and dilution studies; assists with PET/CT imaging to provide quality diagnostic exams while providing a high level of patient care; prepares radiopharmaceutical kits and patient doses; complies with State regulations regarding handling of radioactive materials; schedules all exams to ensure exam appropriateness and provides communication to families and physicians; coordinates daily patient flow.

    Nuclear Medicine Technologist Key Accountabilities:

    • Produces and evaluates images to assist the radiologist with timely interpretation of imaging exams and patients for treatment and plan of care for patients
    • Adheres to image specific policies in regards to patient safety that are established by the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital regulatory, and accreditation governing bodies
    • Maintains required levels of education that pertain to clinical, family, and patient centered care
    • Complies with State of Florida regulations regarding receipt, handling, disposal and administration of radioactive materials
    • Demonstrates knowledge of various Nuclear Medicine equipment as well as PACs and RIS computer skills

    Work Hours: 8am - 4:30pm (M-F), 40 hrs/week

    Work Location: St. Petersburg, FL

    Nuclear Medicine Technologist Qualifications:

    • Completion of an AMA accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program
    • 2 years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine
    • ARRT and/or NMTCB registries
    • Licensure by the State of Florida, Department of Health Office of Radiation Control
    • Current Basic Life Support, AHA
