Chief Nurse Anesthetist manages and schedules Nurse Anesthetists who plan, arrange and secure necessary anesthesia equipment. Aids Anesthesiologist in organizing courses of instruction for students, and partakes in resulting programs and demonstrations. Being a Chief Nurse Anesthetist prepares reports and compiles data dealing with specific anesthesia, drugs and techniques, and patients' reactions to them. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Chief Nurse Anesthetist requires Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     • Preferred Schedule: Rotating with 30 min lunch 7:00a-5:30p 10:30a-9:00p
    • Specific dates/shifts needing priority coverage: Monday through Friday
    • Scope of Work:
      • Worksite Setting: Inpatient; ASC
      • Trauma Level not designated, close to level II or III
      • Administer anesthesia endotracheal tubes, Respirators, Arterial central and peripheral venous lines, Monitors, maintains, and interprets data and waveforms, Monitors vital signs
      • Case Mix: General Surg, Spine, thoracic, robotic; neuro; ENDO, ORTHO, Vascular, OB; No PEDs
      • ORs: 12 UT; 5 surgery centers, 4 GI
      • EMR: Epic
      • MD to CRNA coverage ratio: 1/3 or 1/4
      • Of the case mix, are there any cases CRNAs will not perform or are limited to ( i.e.: regional, epidural)? Based on competency for spinal, epidural, and occasional regional blocks. No hearts.
      • ENDO, ORTHO, Vascular, OB, Neuro, General Surg, Spine, Cardiac do all specialties with the exception of transplant, have a designated cardiac team on staff. Not a designated trauma center but do level 3 trauma cases.
      • What is the rotation and coverage between main OR and surgery centers? Based on assignment, surgery center does sports medicine, gyn, urology, eyes.
      • Care team approach
    • Requirements: CT state license; BC; ACLS, BLS
    • Privileging Process: 45-60 days
    • Travel/Housing Notes: local providers highly preferred
