Chief Nurse Anesthetist manages and schedules Nurse Anesthetists who plan, arrange and secure necessary anesthesia equipment. Aids Anesthesiologist in organizing courses of instruction for students, and partakes in resulting programs and demonstrations. Being a Chief Nurse Anesthetist prepares reports and compiles data dealing with specific anesthesia, drugs and techniques, and patients' reactions to them. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Chief Nurse Anesthetist requires Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Job Summary: The applicant will be expected to provide anesthesia services as scheduled. This will be arranged as a day shift position. This shift contemplates being ready to go to the room with your first patient at 7 am and being done by 3 pm, If you work or cover a service past 3 pm, you will receive additional compensation. These anesthesia services may include: neuraxial anesthesia, general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and monitored anesthesia care. The service lines which anesthesia is provided to include: general surgery, orthopedic surgery, ENT, urology, GYN surgery, gastroenterology, interventional cardiology, and thoracic surgery. There are some children that require surgery, and there are currently no brain, spine or heart surgery performed.

Physical Demands: Job responsibilities require a considerable amount of physical work. The individual will be required to assist with lifting and moving patients, pushing of carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment; and lifting or pushing of up to 50 pounds. The individual must be able to bend over to perform certain duties, e.g., check chest tube drainage, check urinary output, etc. The individual must also be able to maneuver throughout the halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies. Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills. A significant amount of writing and computer entry is required.
