Chief Radiologic Technologist oversees radiologic services, maintains technical aspects of radiologic safety and evaluates accuracy and quality of X-rays. Schedules work assignments and coordinates requests for radiologic services. Being a Chief Radiologic Technologist recommends new equipment, equipment modification, and crucial construction within the department. May perform duties of radiologic technologist as needed. Additionally, Chief Radiologic Technologist requires an associate degree in radiology. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - (R). Typically requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to a manager or director. The Chief Radiologic Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager.     Perform x-rays for diagnostic purposes. Follow established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety. 


    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE RADIOLOGIC TECHNICIAN INCLUDE, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:

    To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    • Prepare patients for radiologic procedures. Escort patients to dressing and x-ray rooms, provide verbal and/or written instructions and assist patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed. Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure patient care, safety and comfort during scan.
    • Operate radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Position radiologic equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to specifications of examination. Take x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety. 
    • Develop and process radiologic film.
    • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure the safety of patients and team members.
    • Ensure radiologic equipment remains in working order. Report equipment malfunctions to the Practice Manager or supervisor.
    • Perform related administrative duties including completing necessary forms, labeling films and film envelopes and maintaining procedure logs.
    • Retrieve radiologic orders from and input related data into the electronic medical record.
    • Maintain adequate radiologic supplies.
    • Serve as a backup for clinical team members as needed by controlling patient flow, performing EKG tests, obtaining blood pressure measurements, documenting vital signs in the EMR, and administering injectables. 
    • Perform all other duties as assigned. 


    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Current New Jersey Radiologic Technologist licensure required 
    • ARRT certification required
    • Current CPR and First Aid Certifications required.
    • Previous urgent care work experience is highly desirable.
    • Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, and families.
    • Willingness to take responsibility for actions; act positively upon feedback from others.
    • Able to withstand physical & mental demands: standing, walking, stooping, bending.  Requires ability to move equipment and transfer patients. Occasional stress in working with tense patients.
    • Basic computer knowledge.
    • Spanish speaking desirable but not required.
