    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

    The Vice President for Student Affairs will oversee the following offices: Student Life and Development, Wellness/Counseling Center, Student Health Services, Title IX, Housing and Residential Life, Judicial Affairs, and Career Development and Placement. Responsibilities include:

    • Maintain effective work relationships with the student population, college academic and administrative staff, and members of the community
    • Promote positive student relations by maintaining effective lines of communication with student leaders and serving as a strong advocate for the non-academic, extra-curricular, and co-curricular needs of students
    • Ensure that assignments related to Student Affairs are completed in the best interests of the University by accepting and accomplishing tasks delegated by the President
    • Support the overall success of Student Affairs by participating in fundraising activities for the division and serving on university committees as appropriate
    • Work with Campus Police regularly and serve on a variety of committees and task forces; research and develop recommendations related to Campus Safety and innovative student activities
    • Oversee the activities and operations of assigned functions; ensures that operations meet the strategic goals and objectives of the University to become a student-centered, outcomes-oriented 21st century institution
    • Coordinate assigned programs and activities with those of other university departments and programs as well as outside agencies and organizations
    • Work with the Chief of Staff in the Office of the President to implement initiatives in student affairs
    • Develop and monitor program evaluation systems for all programs and services within the area of responsibility
    • Select, train, motivate and evaluate administrative staff; establish and monitor employee performance objectives; prepare and present employee performance reviews; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures
    • Assist in the development and administration of the budget for assigned functions; directs the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures
    • Maintain awareness in current developments in student services, higher education and fields related to assigned functions
    • Attend training
    • Perform related duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree required; PhD preferred in student affairs or related area
    • At least 5 years’ experience in student affairs
    • Must have a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Experience working with senior officials in a higher education environment

    Salary
    Commensurate with education, training and experience
