    A Chief Legal Officer provides legal advice and strategies to the Hard Rock’s executive team. Their main duties include reviewing and writing various internal legal contracts, negotiating and managing client and vendor contracts and ensuring legal compliance regarding team member safety and mergers and acquisitions.  The Chief Legal Officer is a strategic thought leader, anticipating opportunities as well as risks, and can make decisions and accommodate change in both an independent and collaborative manner.

    Responsibilities

    • Supports the legal team in overseeing all legal functions for multiple profit centers within an organization.
    • Advises executive members on new laws, existing laws and legal rights that would impact functionality of the business
    • Oversees the legal matters of the business as a whole, including acting as the business’ legal representative
    • Reviews legal strategy in response to any litigation
    • Maintains records of all legal documents and proceedings for the company
    • Implements short- and long-term strategies impacting the organization's legal function.
    • Provides legal advice and counsel and represents the organization in legal proceedings.
    • Ensures organizational operations and practices are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations at all times and recommends changes to organizational policies or procedures with the goal of minimizing risk.
    • Stays up to date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect your business and specific industry.
    • Plays a pivotal role with mergers and acquisition, employment law, litigation.
    • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination.
    • Coordinates legal efforts with the organization’s outside counsel while managing external legal expenses.
    • Collaborates with other members of the executive management team to align departmental strategy or direction with the overall goals of the organization.

    Qualifications

    • BSc degree in Law or J.D. degree and at least 15 years of progressively increased responsibilities with prior experience as a General Counsel preferred. 
    • MA or BSc in Business Administration will be considered an asset
    • Ability to develop and mentor others.
    • Strong leadership experience directing legal teams for a global organization.
    • Oral and written communication skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships.
    • Ability to influence others.
    • A strategic thought leader with credibility to advise senior leadership.
