Opportunity to be the Deputy Chief Financial Officer that will be responsible for managing, supervising, and executing complex accounting and financial reporting work. The Deputy CFO must ensure proper accounting and financial reporting of all County activities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, sound business practices, and relevant local, state, and federal regulations. This position also ensures effective systems of internal control to safeguard County resources. The Deputy CFO assists the CFO in planning, coordinating, and directing the financial activities of the County, and stands in for the CFO, as needed.
An employee in this class is responsible for supervising and coordinating complex financial activities. Work includes supervising directly or through subordinates all personnel involved in the accounting and control functions of the department. Considerable independent judgment and initiative are required to ensure that transactions are in accordance with correct accounting procedures, established policies and statutory requirements. Work is performed under general supervision. The accounting records maintained by the employee or subordinate personnel are subject to audit.Graduation from a four year college with a degree in accounting or closely related field and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and administrative or supervisory work. Prefer certified public accountant. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement. A four-year degree outside of the relevant academic field plus additional years of relevant experience may also be considered.
