Being a Chief Ultrasound Technologist suggests equipment modification and evaluates accuracy and quality of ultrasound images. May perform duties of Ultrasound Technologist as needed. Additionally, Chief Ultrasound Technologist requires an associate degree in ultrasound technology. Requires Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential. Typically requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to a senior manager or director. The Chief Ultrasound Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. POSITION SUMMARY
The Ultrasound Technologist provides excellent patient care by performing exams as ordered by the referring physician.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to perform duties both independently and as a strong team player, assisting other modalities and accepting assistance.
Operates imaging equipment, computer systems, and Picture Archival & Communication System (PACS), with proficiency.
Reviews requisitions to determine proper study; Interview patients for medical history; prepares and positions patient for exams; employs proper protocols to obtain images; monitors patient while scanning; reviews images for quality and abnormalities; completes documentation and file notations; works cooperatively with Radiologist.
Provides excellent care and service to patients. Explains exams, contrast, positioning, etc. to patients.
Stocks supplies; maintains cleanliness of scan rooms and dressing rooms.
Responsible for the non-technical component of the protocol process, including: ensuring that the patient is properly prepped for exams, monitoring faxing transmissions to referring MD offices to obtain missing orders, ensuring that the order is completely filled out i.e. exam, clinical and signature authorization numbers match the exam ordered and codes are correctly entered, evaluating orders to ensure exam requested matches the exam ordered, verify that exams have been scheduled at the proper site, time slot and day.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Consistently demonstrates flexibility and good judgment.
Consults with co-workers and supervisor as necessary.
Adheres to all Radiology Partners\Optimal Imaging policies and procedures, including Compliance, HIPAA, OSHA, licensing and accreditation guidelines.
Reviews policy and procedure manuals on an annual basis.
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ARDMS Certification, required
RVT, required
Competency in Abdomen, Small Parts, OB/GYN, and Vascular examinations
Breast experience preferred
CPR (BLS) Certification, required
1 years of experience
Excellent communication and patient care skills.
