Chief Ultrasound Technologist oversees Ultrasound Technologists and maintains the technical aspects of ultrasound services. Acts as a liaison between technologists, physicians and area support staff. Being a Chief Ultrasound Technologist suggests equipment modification and evaluates accuracy and quality of ultrasound images. May perform duties of Ultrasound Technologist as needed. Additionally, Chief Ultrasound Technologist requires an associate degree in ultrasound technology. Requires Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential. Typically requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to a senior manager or director. The Chief Ultrasound Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Ultrasound Technologist typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. The Ultrasound Technologist will perform a wide range of ultrasound exams, such as general ultrasound, breast, OB/GYN, vascular, and other ultrasound exams on incoming patients. The person in this position responds to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and processes, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding personal health information, including but not limited to, patient diagnosis, health history, demographics, and referral information. This person is responsible for all paperwork associated with technical procedures and responds to physician questions and needs regarding patient procedures. Some technologists may work under the direct medical supervision of a physician during certain procedures.

This position often requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting reaching with hands and arms, using hands and fingers, handling, speaking, listening, and cognitive thinking. Also, must be able to lift over 50 pounds, occasionally. All employees are to assist and participate as members of a lift assistance team (for special accommodation patients or any patient requiring assistance onto a table or equipment placement) to initiate or complete an exam or procedure.
Technologists work in an outpatient medical office setting with low to moderate noise level.
Pay Range
$34 - $45 / hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, location and training. This pay scale is not a guarantee of a particular wage.
