Chief Ultrasound Technologist oversees Ultrasound Technologists and maintains the technical aspects of ultrasound services. Acts as a liaison between technologists, physicians and area support staff. Being a Chief Ultrasound Technologist suggests equipment modification and evaluates accuracy and quality of ultrasound images. May perform duties of Ultrasound Technologist as needed. Additionally, Chief Ultrasound Technologist requires an associate degree in ultrasound technology. Requires Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential. Typically requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to a senior manager or director. The Chief Ultrasound Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Ultrasound Technologist typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Ultrasound Technologist

  • This position will independently perform various sonographic examinations with minimal supervision from the Medical Director.  The Sonographer develops adequate clinical information, evaluates images and presents completed examinations for interpretation.  The Sonographer may render preliminary findings at the discretion of the Medical Director.  On call responsibility is an expectation of the position with on-site arrival within 30 minutes of contact.  May be required to cross train in additional modalities including physiological studies as appropriate. 
     
    Job Requirements                          
    Knowledge of /Skill/Ability to:  Organizational skills, time management, prioritization, planning, attention to detail, problem solving, decision-making, judgment, technical skills, initiative, communication, interpersonal skills, customer relations, organizational relations. Knowledge of policies and procedures.  Adaptability and flexibility.
     
    License/Certification:  Must be registered by the ARDMS or certified by the ARRT in at least one of the sonographic modalities; must maintain continued education requirements as specified by credentialing body. Current OBRT licensure as appropriate. Current BLS required through the American Heart Association.
     
    Education and/or Experience:  Sonographers who are also ARRT registered as radiographers may be required to perform diagnostic radiology studies as needed, including routine workday rotations in radiographic modalities as appropriate.      
     
    Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADACompliance                        
    Must be in generally good health, with the ability to mobilize sonography equipment as required for patient care.  Must be able to transport patients as appropriate as well as assist with patient transfers and lifting as needed.
