Chief of Staff plans and directs all administrative, financial, and operational activities for the organization's President, CEO or other executive. Organizes and prioritizes critical issues and required information for the executive to facilitate efficient decision making. Being a Chief of Staff acts as a point of contact or gatekeeper between top management and other stakeholders. Provides oversight and guidance to projects of high importance. Additionally, Chief of Staff may act as an advisor to the chief executive. May be responsible for the management of executive support staff. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to CEO or executive. The Chief of Staff manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function. Description
The Chief of Staff is the direct manager of all Cabinet members. They work closely with the President and Vice President and all Cabinet members to ensure the NCSA’s programming runs smoothly. Someone who possesses great communication and organization skills would excel in this role!
Examples of Duties
Chairing Cabinet meetings, including compiling an agenda with the NCSA president.
Managing paid positions, including all hired NCSA positions (TAs, Cabinet members, etc.)
Making sure Cabinet members are following through on initiatives and turning in their time sheets.
Collaborate with the student government president to develop and implement strategies for effective governance and student representation.
Support the student government president in their daily activities, including scheduling, correspondence, and preparation for meeting events.
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Must be an enrolled student, must be in good academic standing (maintain minimum cumulative institutional 2.5 GPA for undergraduate students and 3.0 GPA for graduate students)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in student government of similar leadership roles is highly preferred. Familiar with the Student Government Constitution and Statutes.
