Works closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure that the highest standards of quality and service are maintained. Being a Chief of Surgery requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Requires a valid state license to practice. Additionally, Chief of Surgery require extensive clinical experience. Typically reports to top management. The Chief of Surgery manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function. Transport and/or assist with transportation and transfer of patients, as necessary. This person is responsible for obtaining beds, stretchers, transporting or transfer of patients as well as assisting with movement of equipment and preparation of the operating/procedure rooms as directed. Interact with patients, family and visitors of all age groups. The transporter may be requested to assist with cleaning of operating and procedure rooms.
