We have an immediate opening for a full-time Surgery Scheduler in an ambulatory surgery center specializing in orthopedics, podiatry, and pain management. This position adheres to and ensures all surgical guidelines are followed when scheduling surgery cases.
Responsibilities
· Schedules all procedures to be performed in facility.
· Follows scheduling form to obtain all necessary patient demographic, health, and insurance information from physician’s office.
· Considers scheduling case load and the ability to multitask and prioritize.
· Reschedules cancelled or postponed cases and communicates closely with the preoperative nursing staff.
· Communicates accurate insurance information to the Verification/Billing clerk.
· Knowledge of orthopedic conditions, procedure types, ICD codes, and CPT codes.
· Admits patients, collects copay/coinsurance, etc., registers patients in EHR.
· Strong understanding of deductibles, coinsurances, and copays.
· Answers telephone as needed.
Communication
· Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
· Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner.
Required
· Surgery scheduling experience: 1 year
· Good typing skills
· Excellent communication skills
· Good computer skills (Windows-based systems and Microsoft office)
The ideal candidate should have excellent attendance and customer service skills, a professional appearance and demeanor, and strong administrative skills.
Schedule is an 8-hour shift Monday to Friday with no weekends. Excellent benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and vacation/holiday pay.
