Philo is looking for an exceptional Chief of Staff to support the efforts of our CEO and executive team. The Chief of Staff will dive deep into the daily operations of the firm, tackle strategic initiatives, provide data and insights for key decisions, and more.

Responsibilities:

• Financial Accountability
• Develop and implement standardized processes and best practices to streamline financial accountability across the portfolio, including financial modeling and scorecard development. 
• Run the functional and administrative aspects of Philo's investment committee, including documentation, accountability, and process standardization.
• Provide analysis, recommendations and options for the executive team to help drive consensus on key business decisions.
• Provide weekly analysis and summary of key business metrics for the executive team. 
• Develop a communication plan (and associated tools) to regularly update internal team members on financial performance.

• Strategic and Stakeholder Partnerships
• Develop communication plan (and associated tools) to regularly update LPs and other investors on portfolio companies, real estate projects, and VC investment status and progress.
• Help lead the preparation for quarterly board meetings and monthly investor presentations.
• Help design professional standards for external communications.

• Operational Support
• Lead strategic initiatives that span multiple functions and may not have a clear owner and facilitate complex, cross-departmental discussions and decisions.
• Maintain a pulse on the company and functions; be the eyes and ears of the executive team (both for the business operations and employee morale).
• Help prepare for off-sites, team meetings, and department updates.
• Build agendas and moderate recurrent leadership meetings and governance processes.

• Executive Bandwidth Expansion
• Create additional bandwidth for the CEO, driving forward key projects and ad hoc requests.
• Assist the CEO in defining and executing on the rhythm cadence of the business.
• Serve as a thought partner and sounding board to the CEO.
• Attend internal and external meetings for the CEO when they cannot attend

Requirements:

• Passion for creation in the zero-to-one space
• MBA or equivalent with an impressive track record of success
• 3 years of experience with meaningful responsibilities in consulting, finance, tech, or venture capital
• Relentless work ethic
• Intellectual horsepower and curiosity
• Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and cost control
• Strong quantitative analysis and modeling capabilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
• Ability to thrive working in a fast-paced, start-up-type environment
• High attention to detail, strong organizational capabilities, and a team mentality
